The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     December 1, 2023 [It happened](. After countless lies, two indictments, and a searing House report, George Santos was [finally expelled from Congress](, only the sixth US House of Representatives member to receive the exceedingly rare punishment. But contrary to [my prediction at the top of the week](, today's vote to remove Santos from Congress was far from certain, after House GOP leaders suddenly united this morning to oppose the resolution. The last-minute opposition, [Politico reports](, has now frustrated a bunch of House Republicans. It's the latest evidence of unending fracture within a caucus that just can't seem to get it together. I mean, look at Kevin McCarthy! Just two weeks after [shoving a fellow Republican in the back](, McCarthy was out this week claiming that Matt Gaetz "[belongs in jail](." Trust me. I'm no fan of Gaetz. But the constant swipes, at some of the highest levels of government, are almost getting annoying at this point. Anyway, I don't want to leave you on a note of irritation, especially heading into the weekend. [So please, may I offer this clip of Santos' locks getting changed](?
