They have been reporting that they are safe, but the message I received from Gaza was alarming. No water. No public electricity and few remaining generators or solar panels. Internet and phone connections are being cut. Bombings have devastated schools and other potentially safe shelters. Rumors of incoming troops. There is no way out, no corridor for civilians to avoid the destruction. AFSC mourns with those who have lost loved ones and all who are suffering. All human life is precious and deserves our protection. Hostages must be returned and humanitarian aid must be available in Gaza.
