The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     August 23, 2023 What happens when Trump-era, election-denying radicals take over a state? My colleague Noah Lanard went to Michigan, where a far-right transformation in recent years prompted a major exodus by GOP consultants and donors. The result? A party that just can’t stop losing. And the losing streak, as Noah reports, is something to behold. The Michigan GOP's headquarters in Lansing has been abandoned. Their official address is now a P.O. Box at a UPS store in Grand Rapids. Kristina Karamo now chairs the Michigan GOP despite suffering the worst performance of any candidate running for the state’s top offices. And internal battles resemble a Coen brothers film. Here's a glimpse: In Kalamazoo County, Karamo supporters are [suing]( the local chair, Kelly Sackett, for pushing them out. DePerno is representing Sackett, which he hopes will allow him to [question]( Karamo under oath. Forton, the Macomb chair, says DePerno has been "butthurt" since getting beat by Karamo. In April, the news site Bridge Michigan [published]( a leaked video of Sackett knocking a phone and a cigarette out of the hands of the secretary of the Macomb GOP. The police were called. Noah's reporting offers the perfect snapshot of what a Republican Party freed from the constraints imposed by consultants and donors looks like in the Trump era. Evidently, that involves a lot of losing, with no end in sight. —Inae Oh Advertisement [House Store Ad]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [Radicals Took Over the Michigan GOP.
