The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     May 17, 2023 Donald Trump is not great at the English language, and therefore, routinely fails to make much sense. But sometimes, it isn't so much idiocy that explains his nonsensical, chaotic remarks. In fact, regarding abortion, I suspect that Trump's failure to communicate a coherent stance is intentional. Just take a look at[his responses over the past week]( when asked about his support for a national abortion ban. You'll quickly see that there's a lot more than merely a man who can't manage to articulate much less implement a real policy—even if he is a former president and current GOP frontrunner for the 2024 election. Most important, it would be a serious mistake, as some did in 2016, to interpret this evasiveness for potential moderation. After all, the same dude who [blamed the GOP's views on abortion]( for the party's poor midterm performance [just took credit for killing Roe v. Wade](. So sure, Trump may not be willing to commit an exact number of weeks to his extremism, [as Ron DeSantis recently complained](. But in so many ways, that's just more evidence that he never cared—and still doesn’t care—about reproductive rights. Do we really need more details? I don't think so. —Inae Oh Advertisement [Domini Impact Investments]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [A Massive Leak Spotlights the Extremism of an Anti-Trans Medical Group]( How the tiny American College of Pediatricians helped turn fringe beliefs into government policy.
