I enjoyed writing this note.   [Mother Jones]( MoJo Reader, Thank you for reading Mother Jones' journalism. Thank you for valuing facts. Thank you for caring about democracy and decency. Thank you for expecting more from the media. Thank you for all the ways you're working for change. Thank you for all the ways you're showing up for each other. Thank you for being part of the MoJo community and all the communities you roll with. Thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin. Thank you for giving me and Mother Jones strength. Thank you so incredibly much for everything. We're grateful and appreciate you. Today and always. You are the heart and soul of Mother Jones. Sincerely, [Monika] Monika Bauerlein, CEO Mother Jones [Donate]( P.S. I actually did intend to write a bit more of a housekeeping update today, since I—and so many others—were in your inbox a lot recently about fall fundraising and the midterms. I'm glad both of those are in the past! Whew. Real quick: We came up about $100,000 short of our $325,000 goal, and that’s…a lot. But we're not hitting the panic button yet because so many people told us they were tapped out with the election, and because of the way our budget works, we have 7 months to make up that gap. And a huge silver lining of last month was hearing so much incredible feedback from the Mother Jones community. You shared touching stories, you shared what Mother Jones means to you, you shared advice for how we can best go about raising the rest of the $1.4 million in online donations we need by next summer. I'd really love to keep that conversation going, so if you have anything to share about our work—and how I go about asking you all to support it a few times a year—please [drop me a note here](. We're learning so much and looking forward to trying new things in the new year. We rely on donations from you, so it only makes sense to ask the community how we can do it better. Our annual end-of-year push is coming up in December, and fingers crossed for a really strong response, because if that one struggles too, yikes. About one-third of our online total typically comes in during December, and the final two days alone can bring in about 10 percent of the year's total. We just can't sit this one out. But we could all use a break. So we're going to delay that December fundraiser by a week, and trust that folks will show up big time during the final three weeks of the year. I hope it works. Last not least: So many of you shared your stories of financial hardship right now. Please know that there are plenty of other ways you can help Mother Jones outside of donating, if you feel so inclined. One of the most effective and simple things you can do is share our journalism with others. If you get our email newsletter, forwarding it with an encouragement to subscribe is hugely helpful. If you don't get our email newsletter, consider [signing up today](—it's really good. So is just talking about our work in conversation: "I read an article in Mother Jones about…" is such a great way to help us reach new people. I’ve found over and over that no matter someone’s views, when people actually look at our in-depth reporting, especially when recommended by someone they know, they find it helpful and come back again. Thanks for reading…and for everything. I hope you have a wonderful holiday. —Monika   [Mother Jones]( [Donate]( [Donate Monthly]( [Subscribe]( This message was sent to {EMAIL}.
