The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     October 24, 2022 Hi, I’m Sam Van Pykeren, Mother Jones’ assistant digital producer and social media expert. I love horror movies—love them. And while I’ll watch one any time of year, there’s nothing like a good scare during the season of spook. (Even though my local Target wants to convince me it’s already Christmas. ENOUGH!). I take comfort in these fun, escapist thrills. Plus, I find that many of them contain canny social allegories. (Think of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott in the various Scream movies, terrorized again and again by radicalized men.) But this season, real-life horrors are giving my favorite fictional horror gems a run for their money. Nothing, I repeat nothing, has scared me more than the Republican Study Committee’s “Blueprint to Save America.” The RSC is the largest GOP caucus in the House. Its membership boasts 75 percent of Republican lawmakers. And back in June, it released this 122-page manifesto detailing the group’s legislative priorities if Republicans take back the House. My colleague [Abby Vesoulis reported on the little-noticed document]( back in July, pulling out some terrifying details in her write-up. Like a killer getting closer to his final victim in a horror movie, the midterms are almost upon us. And that’s the reason I’m writing to you today. I’ve created what you might call a little horror film, a video that takes you through some of the top-line policies of this so-called blueprint. I hope you take a few minutes to [watch our video](. If you do, I promise you’ll be better equipped to survive the ending of what could turn out to be the spookiest movie of 2022: the midterm elections. —Sam Van Pykeren Advertisement [ACLU]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [If Republicans Retake Congress In November, Here’s What Their Agenda Will Look Like]( Kneecapping the EPA, rolling back transgender rights, slashing social welfare programs—a little-read policy document spells out the House GOP's extreme plans.
