The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     October 21, 2022 It's been a hell of a Friday. This morning, Trump's former advisor, Steve Bannon, was [sentenced]( to four months in prison for two counts of contempt of Congress. About a year ago, Bannon refused to comply with a subpoena from the Jan. 6 House Committee. He claims that this is something he's proud to go to jail for. But as my colleague Dan Friedman writes, "his actions suggest otherwise." Speaking of subpoenas, it looks like it's Trump's turn. The House committee [issued]( a subpoena for testimony and documents from former president Donald Trump. The subpoena asks that Trump hand over any legally relevant documents by November 4 and testify under oath on November 14. The Jan. 6 committee has reviewed thousands of witnesses and millions of documents piecing together the events before and during last year’s attack on the Capitol. They made clear that Trump is a “clear and present danger,” as my colleague David Corn [wrote](. Earlier this week, committee vice chairwoman Liz Cheney said that if Trump [refused]( to comply legislators would “take the steps we need to take after that.” —Arianna Coghill Advertisement [Green Century Funds]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [January 6 Committee Formally Subpoenas Donald Trump]( The subpoena requests Trump to testify under oath and turn over documents.
