The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     July 15, 2022 It's a Friday in the year 2022 and I've once again found myself anxious with the same low-key paranoia we've all harbored for more than two years. Yep, rising Covid rates: The [sixth wave,]( if you're counting. When everyone, including myself, is just so fed up. The issue arises as I head to a pal's birthday dinner tonight, at a restaurant that bills itself as something between an intimate supper club and a venue to meet strangers. I have some reservations about the place beyond Covid; it sounds a tad too earnest for me. But smack in the middle of another wave, I'm wondering if the BA.5 variant is prompting you to once again adjust plans. Or are we just over this? The mood seems to be a general shrug. But when my kid's second week of daycare was abruptly shut down due to an outbreak—apparently the first time the infant room was forced to close since the start of Covid, wow my luck!—I can't help but feel that any drop in vigilance is going to bite me in the butt. So, I'd love your thoughts. How are you responding to the current wave? Are you internally screaming or meh-ing? Anyway, wish me luck at this dinner. —Inae Oh Advertisement [Mud\WTR, Inc.]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [How Close to Death Does a Person Have to Be to Qualify for An Abortion Ban Exemption?]( That's the next legal fight brewing between states and the feds.
