Access to health care is a human right and one that far too many Americans have been denied for too long. In the richest, most powerful nation on Earth, no family should have to worry about affording life-saving medication for their children, have to ration their pills to ensure they can pay their rent or be forced to turn to online crowdfunding to afford their cancer treatment.
In the 32nd District of Texas, where I was born and raised, I keep hearing from people from all walks of life at that we need to act now to address the high cost of health care and that theyâre worried that Washington Republicans are going to take away their health care.
The Trump Administration and his allies have worked tirelessly to undo President Obamaâs legacy and gut the Affordable Care Act. Just last month, the 5th Circuit Court ruled that the individual mandate, an essential part of the ACA, is unconstitutional, bringing into question whether this landmark legislation will be struck down in its entirety. Itâs time we act. [Sign my petition if you agree that the ACA needs to be protected.](
We canât wait. Millions of Americans are uninsured or underinsured, and my home state of Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the country. High premiums, high deductibles, high drug prices and massive out-of-pocket costs are a burden on our country, and it keeps getting worse.
Stand with me as I fight to protect and fix our health care system and lower the cost of prescription drugs. We can do this by expanding the ACA and allowing Medicare to negotiate directly with pharmaceutical companies on behalf of millions of Americans. [Join me and take action to demand Congress address this growing crisis.](
Health care isnât a partisan issue. Iâm running for re-election to protect our historic new House majority, to defend the progress weâve made and to keep fighting to lower costs across the board. But we need the voices of the people behind us to overpower the special interests and get through Mitch McConnellâs obstructionist Senate.
