The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     September 5, 2024 Is Donald Trump finally accepting reality? Take a quick stroll through his Truth Social ramblings, which, just today, claimed that "Comrade Kamala" and "her Department of Justice" are attempting to interfere in the election, and you'll quickly conclude that, no, the former president is still very much stuck on a different planet. But as my colleague Julianne noted, Trump has on numerous occasions [admitted to losing the 2020 election](. The latest admission came Tuesday when he told a conservative podcaster that [he lost to Joe Biden "by a whisker](": In a podcast interview with Russian American computer scientist Lex Fridman that aired Tuesday, Trump acknowledged that he lost the presidential election “by a whisker.” (You can check out Trump’s comments [around the 11:10 mark](.) The surprising remarks follow a similar comment by Trump at a Moms for Liberty conference last week, saying Biden “beat us by a whisker”—before baselessly claiming that Democrats “used Covid to cheat.” At a press conference at the southern border last month, Trump said that he came up “just a little bit short” in the last election. Now this should be seismic news, a moment that finally convinces election deniers to drop the lies, and the [state of Arizona to get a grip](. But Trump's minuscule gestures at being a normal human are far too little, far too late. I mean, as I said, just take a look at the rot he still posts every day: the lies, hate, fearmongering. The dude this week even insisted that he had "[every right](" to interfere in the 2020 election! So let's not give Trump too much credit here, ok?
