The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     July 19, 2024 Shortly after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, insiders claimed the former president was planning to "[seize his moment by toning down his Trumpiness.](" You know, pivot. Make the case to voters that he isn't actually the hellhole of a human that Trump himself proves to be, over and over again. Well, so much for that effort. On the final night of the Republican National Convention, Trump rambled for more than 90 minutes, lashing out with the same ugly lies to the point of genuine boredom. So I appreciated [David Frum's bit of optimism this morning](, a piece that argues that the Trump onstage in Milwaukee on Thursday should give Democrats confidence that they can beat Trump in November. But it goes far beyond Trump's primetime performance. My colleagues were on the ground at the convention all week, producing a string of terrific reporting that gets to the heart of the [GOP's misogyny](, [unhinged retribution fantasies](, its [disingenuous pro-labor rebrand](, its creepy desire to see [America established as a Christian nation](, and its [acquiescence to a right-wing tech billionaire](. Taken together, it's a recipe for an even more dangerous MAGA White House. In any event, kudos to my stellar colleagues for enduring four days at the RNC. I certainly could never do it! —Inae Oh Advertisement [Win Without War]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [At the RNC Prayer Breakfast, Speakers Said the Quiet Part Out Loud]( “This party is going to be a pro-life, pro-family, pro-faith party.” BY KIERA BUTLER SPONSORED CONTENT FROM WIN WITHOUT WAR   Help us build peace in an urgent moment of crisis. Yet, we just came up pretty short on our fundraising campaign. So even though we’re done screaming about [the donations we need]( for a while, if you value the journalism we do but haven’t pitched in recently, please [consider doing so now](—we urgently need a lot of help to make up for lost ground.
