The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     July 9, 2024 Thoughts on [Joe Biden's letter]( to congressional Democrats? Are you satisfied? Panicking? If you don't know how to feel, you are not alone. According to [reports of this morning's private meeting]( among House Democrats, a consensus on Biden's candidacy has hardly emerged. Either way, it's worth pointing out a serious problem in one of the central arguments Biden makes to defend his refusal to leave the race: that he won a Democratic nomination process. As my colleague Tim Murphy [writes]( today: If you think it was a real primary, I guess I would ask: When were the debates? That’s not a minor question. Biden’s inability to effectively make his case in front of 50 million people is the reason we’re all talking about this right now. I can't help but agree with Tim here. Yes, there is indeed a case for Biden to stay. But this isn't it! And if Biden physically cannot muster the strength to convince voters otherwise, he should rely on his VP. As my colleague Jamilah King writes, [Kamala Harris can help defeat Donald Trump](—and yes, either way. —Inae Oh Advertisement [Counting Feminicide ]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [Joe Biden Needs a Better Argument Than This]( Democrats who want him to step aside aren't trying to overturn an election. Yet, we just came up pretty short on our fundraising campaign. So even though we’re done screaming about [the donations we need]( for a while, if you value the journalism we do but haven’t pitched in recently, please [consider doing so now](—we urgently need a lot of help to make up for lost ground. And of course, THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has pitched in. It means the world to us. [Donate]( Did you enjoy this newsletter? Share it on [Facebook]( and [Twitter](.
