The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     June 11, 2024 Today, Hunter Biden was [convicted on federal gun charges](—and it does not feel like an overstatement to say that nobody's happier about the verdict [than the folks over at Fox News](. When the verdict dropped, hosts on the network sang the praises of the judge and jury; delighted in the fact that Biden would face consequences; and openly doubted President Joe Biden’s [repeated]( [pledges]( that he would not pardon his son. “Why was Hunter so confident he could win in this courtroom? Because he’s a Biden,” host Jeanine Pirro said on-air today. “This is the first time that Hunter Biden has faced responsibility and consequences for his actions.” But Pirro—and her colleagues—were singing a very different tune when [Donald Trump was found guilty in his hush-money trial last month](. At the time, Pirro [proclaimed]( that the verdict was "warfare!" and said it was the product of a "kangaroo court." "We have gone over a cliff in America. This verdict is a verdict of someone who was forced to fight a 1,000-pound gorilla with both hands tied behind his back,” Pirro added of her beloved Trump. This isn’t surprising given Fox News’ [longtime loyalty]( to Trump. But the effusive praise was a bold contrast to how Fox—and [some on the far right](—reacted to Trump’s conviction last month.
