The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     March 22, 2024 Something strange is in the air. Steve Mnuchin, as you may have heard, is working tirelessly to [purchase TikTok](; Paul Manafort is being considered for a [top role in the Trump]( campaign; and Jared Kushner is [practically drooling]( over beachfront properties in Gaza. All three men have reemerged in recent headlines, each carrying the specter of shameless opportunity as their former boss [rises in the polls](. Is the band hoping to get back together? I can't say. But it can't be a great omen that they apparently feel confident enough to tiptoe back into the news, despite holding reputations as some of the worst characters of the Trump presidency. I find this confidence deeply unsettling. How do certain people move through the world with such gall? So it's somewhat reassuring that some [former Trump officials]( have refused to endorse his return to the White House. I doubt that it'll make much of a difference among Trump-supporting voters. But it is worth recognizing the growing list of people who've had some kind of come-to-Jesus moment regarding their former boss, the Florida man facing 88 criminal counts. [Or is it 91](? Hard to keep count. —Inae Oh Advertisement [House Donations Ad]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [Trump’s Back on Top. This Is Not Fine.]( Exhaustion with the demagogue is a threat to the republic.
