[Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter]( March 21, 2024 Another daycare bug has hit my household, which is to say, that I was not in great spirits when I read my colleague Isabela Dias' report from a recent [Heritage Foundation event]( in Washington, DC about "seizing the moment" to end Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. I knew that it wouldn't be a cheerful read. But my mood plummeted further as I learned of the event's primary message: That DEI efforts are [destroying American life](; that these initiatives were part of a secretive plan borne out of the Black Lives Matter movement "dedicated to overthrowing America and its entire system"; and that conservative activists must be committed to fighting back. I tend to usually roll my eyes at such obvious hysterics. But as Isabela notes, these ideas, which have been embraced by powerful figures including Elon Musk and the[billionaire who essentially took down]( the first Black president of Harvard, should be taken seriously. And activists have plans to go much further. [You can read Isabela's piece here](, which details a chilling manifesto endorsed by about 100 right-wing organizations and filled with contributions by Trump loyalists. âInae Oh Advertisement [Israel's Black Panthers]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [Itâs a Good Time to Start Worrying About Christian Nationalism]( One tweet illustrates the threat.
