Because that's not what happened at all. Instead, tech stocks continued their free fall pattern. Last week was the worst market sell-off we had seen in over five months. And in the first trading day of the new week, things aren't going better. The Nasdaq shed 4.1% today alone. And over the past three trading days, it has lost over 10%. One day you're setting records. The next week, you're in a full-on correction. The Dow and the S&P didn't have it much better today. The Dow lost 632 points (about 2.3%) and the S&P wiped out 2.8%. The Senate is back in Washington after the August recess. But that doesn't mean that the Trump Administration and leading Democrats are any closer to getting a deal cut. Talks collapsed over a month ago, and still the American people have nothing left to show for their struggles. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could take votes as early as this week on a $500 billion "skinny" stimulus deal. But Pelosi has already let the world she thinks that figure is a joke. However, at least the Senate has something to bring to the table - and something that everyone should be able to get behind as, if nothing else, a start.
