In 2015, my third book released and I said I was done with writing books. Mostly because of the time and effort required and the toll it took on my health/family. I really and truly thought I would never write another book again. And I was good with that. Fast forward to 2018 and I started feeling something stirring in my heart. In fact, when I started my podcast, I actually told a few people that I was hoping I could write another book in five years or so. Around this same time, Jennifer Dukes Lee — whom I’ve gotten to know online the past few years and who works for Bethany House — reached out and said that she wondered if I would ever consider writing another book. I told her the timing was interesting and I did think it would be something I’d do in the future but I didn’t know when. Jennifer gently encouraged me to pray about it and said that Bethany House was very interested in working with me. I decided to shoot it straight and tell her that I would only do it if I could figure out how to make it happen in a way that was a blessing to my family and not a stress to my health. For the past 9 months, we’ve been quietly exploring what that would look like and I’ve been fervently praying for wisdom and direction. Well, God has opened a bunch of unexpected doors, given clear green lights, and provided me with unshakeable confidence that writing more books is His will — and He’s provided a lot of clarity for me in how to do this well while still having breathing room in my life. Last week, I got to spend the day in Minnesota with the Bethany House team planning, dreaming, and brainstorming for the future -- and signing a 3-book contract with them! My first book is slated to release in March 2021 and will be on a topic so many of you have requested — how to parent from a place of love and rest instead of frustration and stress. I am so humbly grateful to be working with such an amazing team who believe so much in the messages God has given me. Also, I can never express with words how much Jennifer’s belief and championing of this project has meant to me. Thank YOU for being here, reading my email newsletters, and being such encouragers. This book deal wouldn't have happened without you! -Crystal P.S. Speaking of books, I wrote a post [7 Books I Read in August]( that included my really honest reviews of them. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
