[image] Hi, {NAME}! I chose [SLOW as my word of the year in 2018]( and committed to practically walk that out by: - [working on being a better listener]( (being “slow to speak”) - [slowing my pace of life to make space for more relationships]( (committing to [open our home up every single week]( for hospitality) - [taking Wednesday’s offline as a SLOW Day]( (being unplugged and off social media) - [not reading any self-help books]( (that would make me feel like I needed to be doing more) This word impacted me and changed me in ways I never envisioned. [image]( By the way, people always ask me where I got this hoodie. It’s just [$19.99 on Amazon](! [Get the link here.]( I re-kindled my love for getting caught up in great stories (and I fell in love with [listening to fiction on audio book through the free Libby app](!). I discovered that I survive just fine without being on social media for a day (but I do really miss getting to chat with everyone who [follows me on Instagram](!) I also learned that it’s often more stressful for the business than restful for me to take a whole day off in the middle of the week (because I have to work so hard to gear up for it and then usually have so much to do to recover from it). I’m trying a daily mini Sabbath idea in 2019 based upon what l learned. I’ve become a lot more aware of how much I don’t listen well to those closest to me… and how often I interrupt or shut them down. I’ve been working very intentionally at being much more slow to speak and am excited at the progress I’ve made this year. It’s changed how I approach communication with Jesse, the kids, my team, and those closest to me in a very positive way. Finally — and probably most importantly — I’ve invested so much in relationships and people this year and it has been the biggest gift to my soul! Opening up our doors used to scare me a lot; [now it’s become pretty second nature to me](. And my big heart goal of developing a few new authentic and very close friendships has come true this year as a result! I’m so grateful for the work God has done in my heart this year — and I’m so excited about 2019 and the word I’ve chosen. More on that soon! What are some of your big lessons or takeaways from 2018? I’d love to hear! Hit reply and tell me!
