We can all live much more comfortably by staying quiet with our success. But what is the purpose of that? ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ In the face of hardship, it's difficult to see the experience as a blessing. But I was blessed with financial independence not once, but twice. The second time took much longer than the first. By going through hard times and battling back, I feel like I have a responsibility to give back. I wholeheartedly follow the Peter Parker Principle: "With great power comes great responsibility." The narrator from the 1962 Spiderman comic was a wise man. But variations of this quote have been uttered by prominent people over the last 200-plus years—from Winston Churchill to Teddy Roosevelt to Uncle Ben, and even the first recorded instance in 1793 by a wise person named anonymous. (Who must have found the fountain of youth because he or she is still dropping meme-able quotes to this very day.) By its essence, "They must consider that great responsibility follows inseparably from great power" is a theme I feel compelled to continue. We can all live much more comfortably by staying quiet with our success and focusing only on our families while our investments continue to provide for the life we want. But what is the purpose of that? How is the world made better if we all just live in a bubble of our own success? Steve Jobs wanted to leave a footprint on this planet. He said, "We're here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise, why else even be here?" If I've been blessed with the experiences and knowledge that have gotten me to where I am today, shouldn't I share those blessings with you? That's why I keep doing what I do. That's why I feel so passionate about helping as many people as I can to create financial freedom so they, too, can feel the ripple effect. If I wasn't talking about this, sharing this with you, it would be like I was burying my blessings in the backyard. Someday, thousands of years from now someone might dig them up and find value, but that is a lot of wasted time. My man Gandalf dropped a bomb on us with "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." What will you do with the time you have left? Will you bury your blessings, or will you share them so they can grow?
