We were dead on eight of nine times

That has been the driving thesis my entire investment career. And the reason why? It works. Over the last two days, we’ve tried to prepare you what to expect from the markets today… And not to toot our own horns, but we were dead on. In Thursday’s Pre-Market Prep we outlined that investors had an 87.5% chance of gains following the release of Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) this morning. That the Invesco QQQ ETF (QQQ) has surged on this data release seven of the last eight months. Well, we can now make that eight of the last nine. PCE is the Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge. And the reading this morning was the lowest level of inflation since April 2021. But there were two forces at play here. In this morning’s Pre-Market Prep we covered that the trading days before the Fourth of July holiday are low volume affairs. And that over the last 15 years, this has created some monstrous one-day moves as once the bulls or bears gain control, there’s no turning back. We warned “…if that PCE trend we outlined hold true, investors could be seeing fireworks of green.” And that’s exactly what’s unfolded. The markets are rallying as we head into the long holiday weekend celebrating our nation’s independence.
