Pro investors love it when this happens [Image]( Thursday, June 29th, 2023   I ENCOURAGED THIS BIG BET ON AMERICA By Matthew Carr   I’ve dubbed it “The Rocky Balboa Economy.” America - like the Italian Stallion from Philly - refuses to give up or stay down. A global pandemic… A supply-chain snarl… 40-year-high inflation… A Russian war machine… The fastest pace of rate hikes in decades… Through this all, American consumers may have stumbled… Even been on the ropes for a moment or two… But this barrage of punches failed to knock out the U.S. economy. And in our topsy-turvy world where good news is bad news, and vice versa, this is the last thing the Federal Reserve wants to see. I pointed out in our Pre-Market Prep that the market’s mood was poised to dramatically shift at 8:30 AM EST. That’s when we’d hear gross domestic product (GDP) and initial jobless claims. Well, once again, Americans came out swinging… consumers opened their wallets at the [fastest pace]( in nearly two years. Spending grew at a 4.2% annual rate, a level not seen since the second quarter of 2021. To make matters worse (in our “good news is bad news” world), jobless claims came in at [239,000]( this morning, well below expectations. But that’s why I’ve encouraged investors to bet big on the U.S. this year. Back at the end of February, I pounded the table to buy the dip on the Invesco QQQ ETF (QQQ). That the fears of a recession were overblown. That this market isn’t rolling over. Well… here’s your headline: February is the only month in 2023 where tech stocks have ended lower. The rest are gains. So, dig out those silk American flag boxing trunks and crank Living in America. Independence Day is here, and our “Rocky Balboa Economy” refuses to give up the fight. We Could See a Repeat Performance Here Americans are hitting the highways and the skyways. Travel is up 12% this year. Thanks to this surge in fleeing to anywhere but home, airlines are soaring.. Hotels are ringing the register... But what about that Silicon Valley disruptor - AirBnB (ABNB)? It’s been one of the hottest summer stocks in recent years. Well, Quantitative Specialist Chris Johnson lets investors know whether this is where their money needs to check-in 2023 or if they should reserve that capital for somewhere else… [Check out his analysis here](.   The Best Investors Have Made a Killing HereReal estate crashes have proven to create some of the biggest fortunes in history. In 2008, John Paulson made $20 billion shorting the housing crash. In 2020, Carl Icahn made $1.3 billion shorting shopping malls. Today, the $21-trillion commercial real estate market is in free fall. Pro traders have already made $600 million in a single day. [And the biggest trades are setting up now - this is what you need to know…](   With One Click, You’ll Get the Most from Money MorningWhen you subscribe to our free Money Morning Daily e-letter you get a lot more - two daily market updates from our experts so you’ll always know where your money stands. The “Triple-Qs,” or “Cubes,” as the pros call it, is an absolute juggernaut of an ETF, with north of $154 billion in assets under management. It’s the proxy for Nasdaq 100, and it’s the market’s second-most traded ETF by average daily volume. It’s up around 37% for the year. But there are technical signs of trouble ahead.[And properly positioned investors could score big…](   Get More Money Morning Our experts offer special actionable investing and trading research to their subscribers every week [Subscribe Now]( [Image]( You are receiving this e-mail at {EMAIL}, as part of your subscription to Money Morning.
