The only way to end your day   🧊Inflation numbers cooler than expected Stocks moved higher after key inflation data came in cooler than expected. The April Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose 4.9% from the same month a year ago, which was just below the 5% increase that economists expected. Markets opened strong, fell into the negative, but ultimately recovered to close a higher. The tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 ETF (QQQ) rose 1%. Meanwhile the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) and Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) rose 0.46% and 0.51% respectively. Investors and traders will look to Thursday morning's Producer Price Index (PPI) numbers release, which could result in another day of up-and-down intraday moves, but relatively sideways trading overall. 📱 Google rises after tech announcements Shares of tech giant Google (GOOGL) rose 4% after the company made several announcements from it's I/O developer conference. Among the announcements were the company's first foldable phone, a new tablet, and more. But perhaps the most notable announcement that investors liked - at least according to price action - was how the company plans to integrate artificial intelligence into it's Search, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail platforms. Google shares traded higher on higher volume - seeing 1.6 times it's average trading volume. 🐁 Disney streaming losses narrow Disney (DIS) announced earnings after the closing bell. The company's earnings per share expectations came right in line with analyst expectations, at 93 cents, and managed to barely eke out higher than expected revenue, reporting $21.81 billion against the $21.79 billion expected. While the House of Mouse's Disney+ subscriber count has fallen, the company was able to offset the loss with price increases. Disney also protected the bottom line by announcing 7,000 total job cuts earlier this year. 🛢️ Alternative Investments Mixed West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil contracts fell 1.22%, while natural gas shed 3.71%. Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) each added 0.3% and 0.2%. Gold fell 0.25% to close at $2037.80. TOMORROW Tom Gentile and gold stock trading legend Brien Lundin will host the $5K Gold Breakout Event at 10 AM ET. This event is totally free - so you should definitely be there - and will go into greater detail about Tom's personal $1.5 million bet that the price of gold will increase significantly in the next six months. [RSVP for your seat right here.]( 👀 Looking ahead The market reaction was mixed to Consumer Price Index numbers today, and tomorrow brings both Producer Price Index and Unemployment Claims - both key figures in the Fed's quest to quell inflation.
