[See their stories here.]( NEWS FROM GARRETT {NAME}   May 02, 2023 Dear Reader Good Morning, Momentum is Yellow. Markets remain relatively unchanged this morning, with investors bracing for three pivotal events that will dominate the latter half of the week. Kicking things off tomorrow is the much-anticipated Federal Reserve FOMC meeting, where a 25 basis point interest rate hike is expected. All eyes will be on Powell's afternoon speech, as investors look for clues on market direction. [Historically, the market chooses a direction]( between 2:35 and 2:37 PM, maintaining that course for roughly 45 minutes before reassessing in the final hour as institutions re-enter. Thursday brings Apple's (AAPL) earnings report with the tech giant's performance holding significant sway over the market. Representing 7.2% of the S&P 500, 12% of the NASDAQ 100, and topping 403 ETFs, Apple's results often set the tone for the broader market. The current trend suggests potential headwinds after the Fed speaks and Apple unveils its earnings. Finally, Friday delivers the long-awaited jobs report, the first since January to carry such weight. The focus isn't on the unemployment rate, but rather the thorny issue of wage growth, a key inflationary concern for the Fed. Robust wage growth could spur further interest rate increases. Currently, there's a 93% probability of a rate hike from 5% to 5.25%. As we look towards June, expectations for another 25-point hike grow amid concerns about wage growth and rent stabilization. However, don't expect a cut before November as rate hikes will likely persist into July. Keep a close eye on [CME Fedwatch]( for signs of a rate increase from 5.5% to 5.75%, even at a mere 0.1%. Should this happen, it's time to short the market, as bets on the increase will only fuel the trend. We've taken your feedback to heart and are ready to return to the morning show to its original format to bring you even more exciting content.
