Microsoft (MSFT) and Google (GOOGL), which account for 20% of the Nasdaq-100 ETF (QQQ) weighting, will report Tuesday evening, perhaps adding volatility to a market that has seen low trading volumes based on daily averages, and a volatility index (VIX) which has dropped to near 52-week lows. Both MSFT and GOOGL are developing artificial intelligence tools - namely ChatGPT and Bard, respectively. It will be interesting to see if the companies follow the Nvidia (NVDA) playbook of last quarter, where the chip maker mentioned the word “AI” 75 times during the company’s earnings call.
