Today is Friday. It’s options expiration day. And we have earnings starting right now. Every single sector is positive to start the day, but that might not last long as we’re seeing futures selling off this morning. Financials are most in focus. It’s a good day to look for earnings reversions early in the trading session. Yesterday, we witnessed another reversion event in the early hours of the trading session. It’s a reminder that you can play the reversions of individual stocks and the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) and other index ETFs. Yesterday, the $395 call (expiring yesterday) popped from about $1.00 to $2.25 in less than the time it takes to call your friend and talk the weather. If an opportunity comes to trade a reversion today - remember that you are trading the January 13, 2023 contract, and it’s best to go one tick up on the options chain (out of the money).
