ET, BA, TSLA, SPXU, COIN, UVXY [Image](   [ARCHIVES]( LIVE]( [Twitter]( [Youtube]( [Instagram]( [Tiktok]( [Discord]( [LinkedIn]( [These states are at level-four code red, yet the media is silent]( Conditions are rapidly developing in Maryland, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee and a handful of other states…yet the media remains silent about the resource shortage. How will this affect inflation, food prices and heating bills in your state? [Find out here](.   November 09, 2022 Dear Reader My family owns a bar in Maryland. It’s an Irish pub, hand-crafted brick-by-brick, stone-by-stone, from two shipping containers packed with building materials in 1998. I had my high school graduation party there. My parents threw a college graduation party there for me. I had a celebratory graduate school dinner there… then two more. Then my wedding rehearsal dinner. It’s been 22 years since it opened. That’s damn good for a business where the average restaurant lasts less than 18 months. But on Monday night, while the Baltimore Ravens played on the road against the New Orleans Saints on the big screen televisions, the pub was quiet. Maybe ten people filled the bar seats. The bar closed earlier than normal -- at about 11 pm. My brother – who helped build the place – asked me what I thought of the light crowd – and the many challenges ahead for restaurants. The economy is slowing fast. Consumers are cutting back on spending. Food inflation is rising. It’s harder and harder to find good employees - let alone any. “At least we own the land and building,” I said, shrugging. “In six months, 90% of our competitors within five miles might be out of business. “ That’s the cold hard truth. Right now, 40% of small businesses can’t afford rent. I expect that number to increase. With more Americans cutting back on discretionary spending, the restaurant industry is in peril—anyone trying to meet their overhead face dire challenges just keeping the lights on. My brother processed these numbers, nodding… thankful for our relative challenges. “But…” I said… ready to deliver the next blow. “But?” he asked.
