Hey readers, I love turning to a good book during a period of transition, and today's guest is on the same page. Odeta Dyrmishi is looking forward to the arrival of her second child this summer, and she's made it a self-care priority to keep up her reading habit during this joyful but hectic time. While Odeta enjoys her regular reading diet of entertaining novels and historical works, she'd love to shake up her selections and bring a greater sense of adventure into the books she picks. I had a blast helping Odeta find the perfect titles to expand her readerly horizons as her family grows! Share your recommendations for Odeta in the comments over on our [show notes page](, where you'll also find links to all the books we mentioned in our conversation today. 3 things I love: 1. There are so many amazing food descriptions in literature that one list could never capture them all, but [the author of this piece nominated 12 favorites.]( (If you're hungry for more delicious fiction, we recently shared a curated list of recommendations in our [Patreon community!](=)) 2. American Poet Laureate Joy Harjo will be [recognized with the Leadership Award in Poetry](=), an award that honors individuals, organizations, and publishers who have made significant contributions to the art of poetry. (We're reading her in Book Club this month as part of our Poetry Month extravaganza and enjoying her work so much!) 3. I'm thrilled with the casting for [Apple TV+'s upcoming adaptation of The Essex Serpent]( even though I had issues with this book when I read it in 2016. (If this title sounds familiar, you may have heard me recommend it to Caylee Dick in [WSIRN Episode 293: Streamline your (digital) TBR](.) What I'm reading now: So much poetry! I'm also enjoying [this beautiful nonfiction work](=) recommended by next week's WSIRN guest. Happy reading, friends!
