Hey readers, There's a first time for everything, and that's certainly true in the world of books and podcasting! Today's episode was born of a "problem" of abundance and a gap in our What Should I Read Next episode topics: we had an "extra" author talk available for our winter season in the Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club, plus a desire for dedicated airtime on the topic of graphic novels and memoirs. Put the two together, and you've got today's new episode. Today's guest is Lucy Knisley, a talented artist, delightful human, and dedicated reader who REALLY needs some low-stress books in her reading life. One of the things we love about chatting with authors is we get to hear about their creative process, but we ALSO get to hear about their reading lives, and all the ways they're similar to our own. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts and be sure to visit the podcast website at [whatshouldireadnextpodcast.com/270]( for the full list of titles mentioned. How nerdy are you? Here's a bit of WSIRN trivia I couldn't quite manage to work into our conversation: Lucy is not the first What Should I Read Next guest to graduate from the esteemed Center for Cartoon Studies. Can you guess who was? Hit "reply" to this email and tell me, and I'll drop a fun little something in the mail to the first reader to get the right answer. Patreon Livestream! Next week, Brenna and I are hosting a virtual chat in our Patreon community. We’ll hang out, answer your questions, and (of course) share a bunch of book recommendations. In addition to these quarterly livestream events, Patreon members receive weekly bonus episodes, access to exclusive events like our Summer Reading Guide unboxing, and a peek behind the scenes at our creative process. They even help in the creative process, shaping our upcoming content, titling episodes and more. Join us for our next livestream on Tuesday February 16th at 1 pm. If you can’t make it live, we’ll record the event so members can watch it at any time (and if you're wondering what these events are like, keep an eye on [our Youtube channel](). We'll be posting a clip of our last event to give you a taste of what these events are like). To become a member of our community, go to [patreon.com/whatshouldireadnext](). We can’t wait to talk books with you on the 16th and throughout the month! 3 things I love: - Lucy Knisley's [latest comic about Groundhog Day](=) made me laugh. Also, [this quarantine mood](=) is entirely too relatable. - [Jane Austen's Persuasion is getting a new adaptation]()! Persuasion is #1 on my Jane Austen film wish list, because I find the existing versions so unsatisfying. - A must-read: [Madeleine L'Engle's private correspondence with Ahmad Rahman](. 1 thing I don't: I would have loved [this list of polar fantasy books](=) about a month ago, but now I'm ready to move on from moody winter reads. Bring on the Summer Reading Guide prep, instead! What I'm reading now I'm thoroughly enjoying [this forthcoming novel set in the world of books and publishing](; it reminds me so much of Julia Claiborne Johnson's [Be Frank with Me](. Happy reading, friends! Anne [Modern Mrs Darcy]() | 291 N Hubbards Ln Ste 172-225, Louisville, Kentucky 40207 [Opt out of What Should I Read Next? news only]() | [Unsubscribe from all MMD emails](

Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
