Hey readers! This week's episode is HIGH ENERGY. My guest Brian and I dive straight into a hotly debated issue: whether to finish a book you don't like. (You won't be surprised to hear I love his take.) We also get into Brian's preference for books that I also happen to love: big, juicy stories that follow characters and families for YEARS. But Brian also has a taste for the unusual, so I recommend 3 titles that hopefully hit more than one target. (You will be happy to hear that I did in fact manage to get my hands on one of my not-yet-released recommendations for Brian at SIBA this weekend, and he already has that copy in hand, so he is no longer languishing in frustrated bookish suspense. We take good care of our fellow readers and guests around here.) You can listen in your favorite podcast app or [directly on the website](). Patreon announcement: Tomorrow is our FALL BOOK PREVIEW (noon Eastern). This is something new we're trying this year and I hope you can be a part of it. This live video event will be similar to the Summer Reading Guide unboxing. I’ll share the new fall releases I already love, and those I can’t wait to get my hands on. This special session will be tons of fun and will give you a jump start on getting your preorders and library holds in! This live event is for Patreon supporters and Book Club members. If you are not already a Patreon supporter, this is [the perfect time to sign up](=). You get access to insider live events like these (although yes, the replay will be available to patrons afterwards), behind the scenes peeks into how we make the show, and bonus episodes that are pretty great (if I do say so myself). I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. - I loved the books but I don't think I'll be watching this. (Hellllllllooooo, HSP.) (Wouldn't it be much better to use my debit card, or a dollar bill, or junk mail?) One Great Book: One Great Book is back! We kicked off Volume III last week. This volume focuses on some of my favorite fall reads. If you didn't yet listen to the first episode you can catch up easily because all the episodes are ten minutes or less. Find all of the great books at [modernmrsdarcy.com/onegreatbook]( and be sure to subscribe in your favorite podcast app so you don't miss a title. Next week: We've talked a ton about siblings on this show—including Brian and his own sister, today—but we've never brought a pair of siblings onto the show.... until now! I can't wait for you to hear our first sisters episode next week. I hope this email finds you in the middle of a great book. I just finished one stellar read and have high hopes for another. (I imagine you'll be hearing about them both in some future episode.) Happy reading!
