Get good at this, and you can produce sales on demand, with little effort and expense Greetings from Fiji! I finally made it. Tomorrow I'll be going to see the renovations taking place on Serenity Island. Add me on [Instagram](41475b/ct0_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH) and watch my stories if you want to see the progress. [MOBE DAILY](41475b/ct1_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH) [] [START YOUR BUSINESS](41475b/ct2_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH) [] [SCALE YOUR BUSINESS](41475b/ct3_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH) [] [GROW YOUR WEALTH](41475b/ct4_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH) [] MOBE Daily #168 "Make your copy straightforward to read, understand and use. Use easy words; those that are used for everyday speech. Use phrases that are not too imprecise and very understandable. Do not be too stuffy; remove pompous words and substitute them with plain words. Minimize complicated gimmicks and constructions. If you can’t give the data directly and briefly, you must consider writing the copy again." ~ Jay Abraham Hey, Copywriting is one of the highest paid (and highest leverage) activities you can do in your business. The ROI you get from every hour you spend studying and practicing your craft will be higher than the majority of other things you do in building your business. So how do you learn to write copy? Mainly through modeling and imitation. It's not something you can learn just from reading a book and studying materials. You learn through actually doing it and practicing it often. I consider myself a decent email copywriter. But that's only because I've been doing it every day for many years (I must have personally written at least 2,000 emails by now). It's like learning to play a musical instrument. Or learning a new sport. The fastest way to pick it up, is through daily practice. The first time I ever had to write sales copy was 2008, when I put up my first ever lead capture page. In the beginning, my list was very small – maybe just 20 people. So it barely seemed worth it. But I told myself that I needed to learn the discipline and build the habits with my smaller list, so that one day when I had a large list I'd be able to properly monetize it. Back then, it would take easily 2 hours to write just one email, because I found the act of writing direct-response copy so unnatural. With practice, slowly that resistance started to disappear. Plus while doing my emails, I'd be reading what other successful marketers were emailing out to their lists, and I'd model the parts I liked. One thing I noticed was that I could never really predict which emails would produce a response. Some emails would fall flat and get hardly any response. The call-to-action might be to message me on Facebook - and I'd get literally 1 or 2 responses. Sometimes none! Other emails could produce several sales at a few thousand dollars each, just because they touched the prospects right hot buttons. In those early stages, it's just a lot of experimentation to see what works.. You're learning how to sell through the written word, and how to get people to take actions that help build your business. Now when it comes to writing sales letters or scripting sales videos, it's very similar to the emails in that you need to be a student of the game. When you see an offer that's just killing it, you should go and study it and try to answer the question, why? What makes the offer work so well? Is it the story? The guarantee? The emotions it makes you feel? Of course it's some of all these things, but which is it mostly? For learning to write sales letters and videos, go to a website like ClickBank, where you can see all the highest converting offers and sales letters, and look at the top performers. When you see everyone else in your industry promoting a new offer to their lists, go study those as well. Then take it a step further. Get the sales videos transcribed (I used to do this all the time when I was starting out). Or write them out yourself. By doing that, you'll study them at a much deeper level and get to internalize things much more deeply. Often what we think will convert and what the market actually responds to are two very different things. That's why you have to study the top performing offers - their numbers don't lie. I said before that reading about how to write good copy is not enough to get good yourself. But there's still some great copywriting books out there. Focus on the books that were written more than 20 years ago, before the internet was a big thing, and learn the principles behind good copywriting. Of course I'm going to recommend Dan Kennedy's stuff. He's got a good book called "The Ultimate Sales Letter," you can start with this. There's also The Gary Halbert Letter, which contains a lot of wisdom from a famous copywriter called Gary Halbert. Find his 'boron letters' too - they are good. I also recommend any book by Joseph Sugarman. He's written a number of copywriting books and he even spoke at a few of our Titanium Masterminds. Then there's Claude Hopkins, who wrote two books: "Scientific Advertising" and "My Life in Advertising." And while I'm recommending resources, there's a website you might want to check out where you can study sales letters and direct-response ads that are proven to work, called [www.Swiped.co](41475b/ct5_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH) Read some of those books, but more importantly, take action. Put the lessons into practice as you go. And here's my final tip. Getting good at copywriting is infinitely more valuable than learning how to create a WordPress blog or doing something technical in your business. So if you have very limited time like most of us, and you have to choose between learning technical skills and learning to write copy, definitely learn to write copy. Anything that has to do with acquiring new customers should be at the top of your list of skills to learn. Every issue of my monthly print newsletter, '[MOBE Advantage](41475b/ct6_0/1?sid=TV2%3AGl7BPZ4sH)', includes a section about acquiring new customers. Here are some of the tips I'm sharing in the March issue: - How to get more traffic as you scale your business (from secret sources that cost less and convert better) - The trick to keeping your sales reps happy, motivated and producing maximum sales numbers every month - Phone sales tips to help you maximize your close rate, without making your customers feel "sold to" - Simple steps for growing your Instagram presence, even if you've never done Instagram marketing before - My must-try, must-dos and must-reads for every entrepreneur (books, websites and tools that will turn you into a more knowledgeable and effective marketer) - ... and a whole lot more. You've lost everything and your back is against the wall. However, being at "rock bottom" can also be the best time of your life, because it's when you can make the decision to turn it all around. There is a faster way to get a testimonial on the spot. All you need to do is give someone a tip they didn't know, and ask them if it was helpful. People want to do business with other people they like and trust. If they don't know who you are or how you're qualified to solve their problem, they're not going to buy from you. Introducing your product and doing the close is the last of 3 components to a sales webinar. If you want to make sales, you must cover the other 2 components first.
