Have you seen the buzz on the new Netflix Documentary The Social Dilemma? It exposes how companies like Facebook train us for addictiveness to their app and make compliant to advertisers. It has changed the rules I set up for how I expose my kids to Facebook and Instagram. And it’s gotten me completely off Facebook. But at the same time, this led to a bit of a dilemma. With Mindvalley events shut down around the world due to COVID-19, how could our community connect? [Well, we have a plan. Tell me what you think?]( It has to do with a new type of social connection app that we’re releasing for you all. This video explains. :-) But as you’ll see below, the story behind the app is even more interesting.  [Connections by Mindvalley](  [ Here’s how we can stay connected](  Why build this app for the Mindvalley community? About a year ago, I had a really unique experience. I was on an ayahuasca journey. And in that journey I had some kind of ‘force’ speak to me. For 7 hours straight, I received ‘downloads’ and information to build a new type of utility for Mindvalley. Keep in mind... This was before COVID-19. This was before The Social Dilemma. This was before the pandemic put us all into lockdown. But because I’ve learnt to trust my intuition, I immediately invested a large sum of money, assembled a team, and started working on an app to [create a private social network]( for Mindvalley members. What was most interesting was that as this force was speaking to me, it laid out certain rules for the app.  Rule #1: No algorithms to keep people hooked on the app itself. Rather, it should be designed to do the exact opposite - getting people off the app and into the real world to forge beautiful and deep friendships.  Rule #2 The app must not sell customer data to advertisers. We’re not building another Facebook - where you end up being the ‘product’ and the entire business model revolves around influencing your behavior to buy things you don’t need. The ‘force’ that spoke to me said that if I agreed to these two conditions - no algorithms to keep you hooked and no advertising - the app will be a roaring success. Naturally, I agreed. I was blown away by the clarity and power of the instructions. And when I emerged from my 7 hour altered state experience, I put everything I remembered into a 30 min voice-note and sent it to my team. What you now see is just 5% of that vision (the other 95% will be built over the next 2 years). Version of the app is now ready.  [Mindvalley Connections App](  And I’m so glad I listened to my intuition because when the pandemic hit, all our events were cancelled. But this app has given our members a new way to connect. If you’re part of All Access, I want you to [watch this video]( to see how we’re moving from real world connections to virtual connections (real world connections will be back in late 2021). Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
