Hi there – It’s Hannah Margaret, mindbodygreen’s executive editor. I don’t know

[mindbodygreen ]( Hi there – It’s Hannah Margaret, mindbodygreen’s executive editor. I don’t know about you, but it seems like everyone is talking about protein. Instagram, podcasts, and even our Slack channels over at mindbodygreen are riddled with questions: - Is animal-based protein better than plant-based? - Anyone have any tips for hitting their protein goals? - What whey protein is everyone using? - What the heck is leucine and why does it matter? (Great q! Answer [here]( From my perspective, it’s been a real revolution in the health space, and as I refined our POV on mindbodygreen, I wondered if I needed to update my personal diet parameters. I had been a vegetarian for 10 years, because I believed it to be the healthier choice. [Shop now]( But I wasn’t feeling my best. I was hungry all the time, my blood sugar wasn’t balanced, and I felt weak. I wanted to see if incorporating more protein would help me feel stronger and more fueled. That’s why last fall I said goodbye to my vegetarian diet and opened up the door to eating high quality meat. What did I eat first? A bite of grass-fed steak. (I know, jumping headfirst back into the game.) Did it hurt my stomach? Actually, no. I have been focused on gut health for a while now, so I’m sure it helps that I regularly take [probiotics]( eat fiber-rich foods, and devour loads of plants. So, how do I get more protein now? I’m SO glad you asked. Here are my go-to tips: - I incorporate [beauty & gut collagen+]( into my smoothies, which has 16 grams of protein. I also add whey protein, so my total grams of protein per smoothie is hovering around 40 grams (!!). - I typically have 2 eggs a day, which brings in 12 grams of protein. - I eat one meal with meat in it per day (20 to 40 grams of protein) - I sprinkle hemp seeds and nutritional yeast on whatever makes sense. - I use Greek yogurt in dishes regularly instead of sour cream or mayo. I’ve been at mindbodygreen for almost five years now, and ever since we launched supplements in 2019, I’ve been curious about our collagen. People rave about it! My own stepmom swears by it! When I ripped the bandaid and ate that first piece of steak, I almost immediately placed an order for our beauty & gut collagen+. Time to give it a go! It ticked all the boxes. I wanted something to help me on my protein journey, but I also wanted a supplement to make my skin glorious. There’s a noticeable firmness in my skin and easing of fine lines that I’ve loved to see.* It’s a win-win. Interested in seeing for yourself? Give [beauty & gut collagen+]( a try today! All the best, HMA [Shop now!]( *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
