It's Lola from Mighty Deals, and this newsletter is going to be focused 100% on some of my favorite stories in the design world right now. Here's what's you'll read: 📷 How a tech co-founder is giving back to the design world. 🏎️ Meet the NASCAR fan who broke into the industry in a unique way. As always, scroll to the bottom for a meme 👀 If this email was forwarded to you, [click here to subscribe]( so you never miss another White Space newsletter (along with exclusive deals on design bundles, fonts, and graphics)! [SNAPCHAT’S COFOUNDER SURPRISES LA DESIGN GRADS ]( Hundreds of design students were stunned by this announcement. Graduation...it's a bittersweet day for many in the United States. On one hand, many are left with a mountain of student debt to pay off. Life changed in one second for 285 grads at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, when the announcement spread that Snapchat's co-founder would be completely paying off their student debt. This donation from Evan Spiegel is the largest in the college's history, and probably the most impactful thing any human will do for those 285 lucky grads. [Want to restore your faith in humanity? Roberto Ramirez has always been artistic... And he's always loved NASCAR, the American auto racing sport/company. He started creating graphic designs on video game cars at a young age, and designed dozens of his own custom virtual cars. But would his dream ever leave the virtual world? Thankfully, he had a friend at Stewart-Haas racing, who gave him the opportunity of a lifetime and invited him to submit a real-life paint scheme for the racing team. He knocked the opportunity out of the park... and his car design was featured in a live race in 2019. But instead, he took his love and expertise back to the virtual world. "What [NASCAR] did was move to a virtual video game basically called iRacing for about two months," he said. "During that time, I reconnected with Ryan and Stewart and my job was transferring paint schemes in real life to virtual race cars. I did that with extremely tight deadlines while I balanced that with my college workload. That really led to the real-life opportunities I have had today." [--Roberto Ramirez via GVNews]( [Read the full story here!]( [HOW TO FIND HIGH-QUALITY DESIGN WORK ] Think this one will get built? I don't know, but the projections say this skyscraper should be finished by 2026. It's going to be a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, and it will loom high above the other buildings in Miami at 100 stories and 1,049 feet tall. I don't know... with Florida's hurricanes it could certainly be an interesting project to complete. Regardless of your thoughts, though, the image projections for this project are beautiful!
