I am running for Congress to represent TX-15. Hola {NAME}, my name is Michelle Vallejo, and I am running for Congress to represent TX-15. In just a bit, Iâm going to ask you to become a founding donor to our campaign. But first, I want to tell you a bit about myself and why Iâm jumping into this race. I come from a big family of immigrants, farm workers and entrepreneurs. My parents, immigrants who made their way to the Rio Grande Valley from Mexico, did a little bit of everything to make ends meet. But running Pulga (flea market) Los Portales, serving thousands of our community members on a weekly basis and helping dozens of working-class entrepreneurs start their businesses, defined my family's values â our South Texan values. But my life changed forever when I was in college. While at Columbia University, after years of fighting multiple sclerosis, my mother took her last breath at just 46 years old. It was then I decided the best way to honor her legacy is to fight for a better future for my family. To fight for a better future for ALL of us â including you, {NAME}. Every day, I see how hard the people of South Texas work just to scrape by. At our familyâs pulga, dozens of vendors come each week, hoping to make enough to put food on the table. They are the overlooked emprendedores who make our community strong. Iâm working for stronger and healthier neighborhoods in TX-15 and I have a plan to make this happen. It starts with fighting for quality affordable healthcare, protecting workers, providing good-paying jobs and a thriving economy, protecting womenâs reproductive rights â and thatâs just the beginning. [But to accomplish all of this, I need your help to jumpstart this campaign and put us in the best possible position for the fights ahead. Can you make a contribution and become a founding donor today? What we are able to raise today, and in these first few weeks, will be our first chance to show the state â and our opponents â just how much grassroots power we have.]( [Become a Founding Donor]( Weâre at a critical moment for the future of South Texas. Monica De La Cruz makes a lot of promises to us, la gente. But in Congress, her record tells a different story. Her budget bill makes devastating cuts, from slashing veteransâ healthcare to taking away millions from our schools, and even jeopardizing Medicare and Social Security. Whatâs more, sheâd let the government interfere in womenâs private medical decisions and take away our freedoms.  She wants to distract us with extremist issues in hopes that we wonât notice how badly her policies are hurting our communities. And, more importantly, so that we wonât notice how powerful we can be if we all come together to fight for a better world. South Texas needs an advocate â no a una politica vendida. Iâm not afraid of the fight ahead because Iâve been underestimated and questioned before. Time and time again while growing up, I dealt with questions about why I spoke Spanglish, or why I mixed English and Spanish, about how I wore my curly hair and whether it looked too frizzy or if it was professional enough. But instead of letting that change me, I chose to proudly represent my roots through my education and work. Itâs why I decided to return to the Rio Grande Valley and get to work. And itâs something Iâll continue in this fight to become your next Congresswoman of TX-15. ¡Vamos por Quince! Michelle Vallejo [Like on Facebook]( [Follow on Instagram]( [Follow on Twitter](
