[View in browser]( [Mail & Guardian]( M&G Mornings | Fri 03 Feb Itâs the end of another week where the moods of Eskomâs old and cranky coal-fired power stations have ensured weâve jumped between stages four and six of load-shedding. Mr President, I donât know how much more of this your country can continue to take. Itâs going to be interesting what message of hope you bring in your State of the Nation address in Cape Town next week. Last year, the Mail & Guardian said South Africa wasnât a failed state, even by textbook definition. We still arenât, but our moods have certainly not improved on our short, medium and long-term prospects. Daily bouts of load-shedding arenât going to help with our confidence levels. Eskom chief executive Andre de Ruyter has previously promised us only 18 months of load-shedding and so have you. I donât think it will fly any longer. Whatâs your story Mr President, we wait with bated breath. Till we speak again next week. Ron Derby | Editor-in-Chief [@RonDerby](
