Well, it can now be forgotten because people are mulling over whether they can afford the chicken and the egg. High protein foods like chicken are essential to many diets. But load-shedding, yes the dreaded load-shedding, is even affecting the poultry industry. Our colleague in Cape Town, Eunice Stoltz, i[nvestigated how load-shedding is hitting this sector](. Poultry producer Rainbow estimates its losses to have reached close to R100 million. These effects inevitably trickle down to consumers and we all feel the pinch.
