On the heels of the sensational season-opening run of Fire Shut Up in My Bones, members of that production’s cast and creative team reunite for another great American opera: the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. The Met’s smash-hit staging by James Robinson—which premiered to universal acclaim in 2019—features choreography by Camille A. Brown and a superlative ensemble cast headed by soprano Angel Blue and bass-baritone Eric Owens as the title couple (pictured), with Blue’s Fire co-stars soprano Latonia Moore and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Serena and Jake. Zeffirelli’s spectacular staging of Turandot continues its run through November 16, with soprano Christine Goerke and tenor Yusif Eyvazov starring in Puccini’s last masterpiece. Wagner’s sublime comedy Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (pictured) is on stage through November 14, with Maestro Antonio Pappano leading an exceptional cast that features baritone Michael Volle and soprano Lise Davidsen in her role debut as Eva. Then, starting November 9, Zeffirelli’s enchanting production of La Bohème returns, starring soprano Anita Hartig and tenor Charles Castonovo as Puccini’s love-struck Parisians. And on November 23, Matthew Aucoin’s new opera Eurydice, with a libretto by celebrated playwright Sarah Ruhl, has its Met premiere, with soprano Erin Morley portraying the mythical title heroine.
