[Messy Nessy Chic]   I’m a Capricorn... (If that means anything to you). I’m born in early January and typical character quirks allegedly include a dry sense of humour, being bossy, witty, a strategic thinker, keeping my private life a secret, and actually caring, but not often showing it. I guess I could agree with most of that, but I thought I’d also share a sprinkling of fun facts about me since we’re in my star sign and you and I are pen pals! The secret is probably out on this, but I’ve developed an incurable habit of people-watching. (Here’s [my latest captures of voyeurism, observing Parisians and their pets](). Fran Lebowitz is one of my biggest heroines. And if you haven’t begun watching her new Netflix show, make it your weekend treat. Oh I used to have a huge crush on [Jeff Goldblum]( (probably still do). I’m capable of secretly eating [really strange food combinations](. Like potato chips dipped in milk. And yes, I like one of those people who enjoy pineapple on my pizza. Some of you may also know this, but I’m a college dropout. You could say MessyNessyChic became my own private university to learn about everything & anything I was curious about. Like our “curiosity of the week”: [the chatelaine, or as I like to call them – inside out handbags of yore](. I’m naturally a very shy person, and have a hard time making new friends. I often sit in cafés willing myself to strike up a conversation with the person next to me – never do – and presume it must have been easier “in the old days”. Speaking of which, let’s time travel to [the Forgotten Cafés where the British Beats Used To Meet](. And on that note, it’s about time I started planning another [Keyholder]( Zoom event where we can roam around Paris together. I’ll keep you posted. Stay curious, [Nessy]   [The Forgotten Cafés where the British Beats Used To Meet](  [kardomah2]( We have all heard of the Beat Generation, but have you been keeping up with the Kardomahs? Across the pond from Ginsberg’s gang and a couple of decades earlier, there was a group of bohemian artists and writers who beat them to it. The Kardomah Gang are Wales’ and the world’s forgotten intellectual boyband, who…  [Continue Reading](   [Take a Curated Journey to Five Cities with Five Artists](  [132001409_402932234376715_2024333414911742968_n]( We’re all trying to find ways to travel without the freedom to actually travel, whether its through film, literature or music, but today, I thought we’d explore this idea through art. And why not make it a reason to find some names you’ve perhaps never seen before? So without further ado, grab your virtual passport…  [Continue Reading](   [Curiosity du Jour: Inside Out Handbags of Yore](  [29f84881-f295-4c70-9961-9aea33df5220]( Empty a woman’s handbag inside out and you’ve got the right idea about the chatelaine. Before purses were a woman’s primary accessory, this curious contraption that fell into the annals of fashion obscurity over time, once commonly served to carry her daily armour. Designed very much like a tool belt worn at the waist, the chatelaine…  [Continue Reading](   [Here’s Prince, Holding Court in his First Filmed Interview](  [1816]( Prince rarely gave live interviews, but when he did, he had a way of mesmerising the audience. We dug up this rare clip from 1985 when the artist agreed to talk in front of cameras for the first time ever. It’s a rather peculiar conversation in which his then-manager Steve Fargnoli (who later sued the singer…  [Continue Reading](   [13 Things I Found on the Internet Today (Vol. DXXXVII)](  [136776271_460050345165639_9173601117242729319_n]( 1. David Bowie’s thoughts on the Internet “I don’t think we’ve even seen the tip of the iceberg. I think the potential of what the internet is going to do to society, both good and bad, is unimaginable. I think we’re actually on the cusp of something exhilarating and terrifying… I’m talking about the actual…  [Continue Reading](  Interested in Becoming a MessyNessy Keyholder?
