[Raspberries] Gain full access to this premium Gardening Guide—and an entire Library of food gardening advice—with a [Charter Gold Membership in Food Gardening Network]( Dear Gardener, Raspberries are the gemstones of the garden. They’re gorgeous glowing rubies, bright amethyst, and pure amber. Raspberries are sweet delicacies. They add sophistication to desserts and bright cheer to breakfast dishes. Best of all, raspberries can grow in almost every part of the U.S., and you don’t need a ton of space to enjoy a huge harvest of these most delicious berries. Additionally, there are around 200 varieties of raspberries! You can read about six common varieties in the Plant Profiles section of the Raspberries Gardening Guide. One of those varieties, the Raspberry Shortcake Raspberries, is prized for its ruby red, plump fruit, the gorgeous white flowers, and the fact that this particular variety is excellent for a container garden. As a bonus, you won’t find any thorns on this one, either. Another variety, Cascade Delight Raspberries, will grow large, firm fruits on a 5-foot tall bush. It’s also largely resistant to root rot, making it an ideal variety if you live in a wet climate. Or you can plant gold in your garden with the Anne Raspberries. The Anne raspberries grow a deep, golden-yellow color, and the juicy berries are quite flavorful, with hints of apricot. [Raspberries] Learn more characteristics, including their hardiness zones and when they bear fruit, of these three varieties, plus three more in the Plant Profile section of our Raspberries Gardening Guide. Then dig into the history, nutritional facts, and all the details of growing raspberries. And take a peek at our favorite part of the Gardening Guide, seven raspberry recipes! The Raspberry Ricotta Cake is on regular rotation in my house! Don’t miss your chance to grow these garden gemstones in your own yard! But that’s the beauty of working with a team of gardening and cooking enthusiasts; I get introduced to all sorts of fantastic ideas. All I can say about this particular recipe is that I’m sorry I didn’t discover it earlier in my life. Don’t worry, though, we aren’t saving the raspberries just for dessert. The Raspberry Goat Cheese Salad makes a perfect lunch, especially if you toss it with Raspberry Vinaigrette. Just mix together some garden tomatoes, fresh baby spinach or leaf lettuce, crumbled goat cheese, and add a little crunch with toasted sunflower seeds or pecans. There are seven delicious raspberry recipes ready for you in the Raspberries Gardening Guide, which you can look through right now when you accept your membership in The Food Gardening Network. Excellent choice! Now you have one more decision to make: Do you start them from bare root canes (cuttings) or tissue culture plants (in pots). Rooted canes are easy and more economical, while tissue culture plants tend to be more expensive, but they’re also more established and often hardier. Another potential issue is availability. You may be able to get cane cuttings from other gardeners if you’re after a particular variety. If you’re heading to the nursery for a plant, your choices may be limited. Whichever method you choose, there is a wealth of helpful information in the Raspberries Gardening Guide. You’ll find articles that cover everything from the essential tools you need to how much sunlight your plants need to pruning and weeding and so much more.  [Food Gardening Network Charter Gold Membership Special Offer—Just $10 for an Entire Year!
