Sauces, sides, and spices: Find out how to grow everything you need for the best barbecue ever! May

Sauces, sides, and spices: Find out how to grow everything you need for the best barbecue ever! [Food Gardening Network Preview]( May 15, 2024  [The Bountiful Barbecue Food Garden Planning Kit]( Sauces, sides, and spices: Find out how to grow everything you need for the best barbecue ever! [May Magazine Cover] Gain full access to this premium printable kit—and an entire Library of food gardening advice—with a [Charter Gold Membership in Food Gardening Network]( Hello gardening friends! I just took a walk, and while it’s still chilly here, there was a lot of activity. Robins were pecking at the ground, Cardinals called from the highest branches, squirrels scampered over the grass and into hedges, and more than a few trees had the tiniest little buds. The days are getting sunnier and longer. Of course, this means I’ll get to spend more time in the garden soon. Even better, I’ll get to spend more time outdoors gardening, grilling, and enjoying the bounty of nature. If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re pretty excited about that idea, too! A few years ago, I began to approach my garden in a new way. The first few gardens I ever grew were a mishmash of whatever I thought might grow well. I ended up with more peas than I knew what to do with and far fewer tomatoes than I would have liked. Then I learned about actually planning a garden. I’m not kidding when I say that was a revelation. Instead of a haphazard array of vegetables and herbs, I started thinking about what I wanted to do with my garden. What foods do I enjoy? What vegetables go together? What do I have trouble finding at the store? What I discovered was that I can plan a garden around a theme. Of course, you can have multiple themes. And there’s a lot of crossover. After all, garlic goes with pretty much everything! One theme I tried last year that I loved was for a Barbecue Garden. I love making my own herb and spice blends. Plus, there’s nothing better than grilling up a burger and piling it high with lettuce, onion, and tomato literally straight from the garden. That was the beginning of the printable Food Gardening Network Barbecue Food Garden Planning Kit. [Food Gardening Network Charter Gold Membership Special Offer—Just $10 for an Entire Year! The same 9x9 garden plan I used is included here, so there’s no guessing how it all works if you want to grow your barbecue food garden. This garden includes lettuce, onion, garlic, two varieties of tomatoes, three varieties of peppers, and cucumbers. Of course, we can’t just leave you with that! How about some delightful recipes so you can savor the flavor? [Blackberry BBQ Sauce] These recipes here are grounded in traditional barbecue recipes, and they break some new ground with unique foods like Grilled Garden Romaine. If you haven’t had grilled Romaine lettuce, you have to put this on your list! I was honestly surprised how delicious it was the first time I tried it! In all, you’ll find 15 hand-curated recipes in the printable Food Gardening Network Barbecue Food Garden Planning Kit. One recipe here that I absolutely adore is the Blackberry BBQ Sauce. This sauce is the perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and savory. The bourbon and Worcestershire sauce add a wonderful depth and a touch of spice, while the blackberry preserves makes a little joyous addition. Of course, it’s great on ribs, but I also really enjoyed it as a dip for baked potato wedges.  [Barbecue Food Garden Planning Kit] Along with the garden planning ideas and recipes, the Food Gardening Network Barbecue Food Garden Planning Kit also includes a section of printable notecards. I love using these to keep in touch with friends or to attach to gifts of homemade sauces and rubs. It’s a nice touch, plus, who doesn’t love getting an actual card?! I don’t know about you, but most of my mail goes straight to the recycling bin, so it’s extra nice to have something hand-written from a friend! In all, this printable Food Gardening Network Barbecue Food Garden Planning Kit includes more than 35 pages packed with the perfect layout for your barbecue food garden, a bonus guide to growing your own Barbecue Herb garden, tips and tricks for handling hot peppers, gorgeous notecard ideal for keeping in touch with friends or jotting down your own recipes, and 15 mouth-watering recipes to keep your kitchen, and your home, steeped in an intoxicating blend of aromas. ! When I first started gardening, I made a lot of mistakes, and it didn’t come to me naturally. I had to go through dozens of books, piles of magazines, and about a million websites to figure out how to grow what I wanted. There was some luck, too. I have some friends who are experienced food gardeners, and I wasn’t shy about talking to the farmers I bought produce from at the markets and farm stands. That’s certainly one way to learn. I also realize that takes a lot of time and patience (and no small amount of Type A personality traits!). And honestly, there are times it would have been nice to have one source to discover a new vegetable (or rediscover some old favorites), and get all the information I needed to grow these vegetables in my garden. Well, now there is, thanks to the Food Gardening Network—a one-stop guide for all your gardening and cooking needs. From starting seeds to irrigation to pest control to indoor herb gardens, this is the information I wish I had when I was learning to garden. This is where the Food Gardening Network truly shines.
