Concerns rise over increasing rates of endometrial cancer, particularly among Black women, as cases

Concerns rise over increasing rates of endometrial cancer, particularly among Black women, as cases and deaths continue to climb. ͏    ͏    ͏    ͏    ͏    ͏    ͏    ͏    [SYNOPSI logo] [Dr image] Christy Walters Haygood, MD Gynecologic Oncology Specialist St. Dominic's Jackson Memorial Hospital Jackson, Mississippi Wednesday, September 11, 2024 Disparities in endometrial cancer outcomes persist in the U.S., with increased rates of advanced disease at presentation among Black women, as well as lower survival rates compared with white women. Research is focusing on ways to shrink this chasm, with some surprising findings – for example, that ultrasound has different efficacy across different racial populations. In addition, it is well known that for various reasons, Black women are less likely to be included in clinical trials, which limits the ways results can be applied. It is crucial to continue efforts to determine the best course of action to improve these disparities.
