ChatGPT Implemented Into Healthcare! In the past couple of months, the focus has heavily shifted from digital health to everything AI. It makes it harder for the #digitalhealth community to gain enough attention to their projects; and it makes it harder for those interested in AI to understand the context when thousands of announcements come out weekly. In this, we try to find the balance and cover both fields, even though there are many more interesting and new concepts in AI than in digital health. If you think we don't manage to do that, please do let me know and I'll make sure we fine tune better. I hope you will find the newsletter useful! Best regards, Berci Bertalan Meskó, PhD The Medical Futurist [TEL AVIV HOSPITAL FIRST EVER TO USE AI INTAKE INCLUDING CHATGPT]( --------------------------------------------------------------- That's going to be an interesting experiment! Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center has become the first hospital in the world to integrate #ChatGPT into its triage process. They do it with a startup called Kahun Medical that incorporated ChatGPT into its existing AI system. [READ MORE]( WHY DO I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT? I'd love to hear what the Israeli healthcare policymakers think about using generative #AI in direct care. [RINGCONN REVIEW: A SMART RING TRACKING YOUR HEALTH]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Can a smart ring serve all your health- and fitness tracking needs? We reviewed the RingConn to find out how viable is this concept. RingConn is a sleek, lightweight smart ring with an impressive seven-day battery life. It monitors heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, sleep patterns, steps, calories burned, and distance traveled. [READ MORE]( WHY DO I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT? RingConn delivers what it claims — a discreet, reliable health and fitness tracker. It offers an attractive alternative for those who want to keep tabs on their health but aren’t keen on wearing a smartwatch or fitness band. [INTRODUCTION TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MEDICINE AND HEALTHCARE]( --------------------------------------------------------------- This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the field of medicine and healthcare. It covers various AI applications, such as medical imaging analysis, diagnosis, drug discovery, patient monitoring, and personalized medicine. We recently added a bonus chapter on prompt engineering, so you can get up to speed in the generative AI era. [ENROLL HERE]( [GENERATIVE AI LEARNING PATH COURSES]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Google just released a bunch of free online courses to master Generative #AI. 1. Introduction to Generative AI 2. Introduction to Large Language Models 3. Introduction to Responsible AI 4. Generative AI Fundamentals 5. Introduction to Image Generation 6. Encoder-Decoder Architecture 7. Attention Mechanism 8. Transformer Models and BERT Model 9. Create Image Captioning Models 10. Introduction to Generative AI Studio [READ MORE]( WHY IT'S IMPORTANT? For those that want to learn about the technical details of generative AI in medicine and healthcare, these are excellent resources. [AI MODEL CAN HELP DETERMINE WHERE A PATIENT’S CANCER AROSE]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Using machine learning, MIT researchers could analyze the sequence of about 400 genes and predict where a given tumor originated in the body. Such predictions could enable doctors to choose targeted treatments for difficult-to-treat tumors! [READ MORE]( WHY IT'S IMPORTANT? "Using this model, the researchers showed that they could accurately classify at least 40 percent of tumors of unknown origin with high confidence, in a dataset of about 900 patients." [AI OFFERS HUGE PROMISE ON BREAST CANCER SCREENING]( --------------------------------------------------------------- As expected, #AI can help fill in the HR gap left by missing and burnt-out healthcare professionals. Hospitals like Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Florida are leveraging AI to cut down on administrative tasks which contribute to burnout for nurses and doctors. They are using Microsoft’s Nuance to transcribe and document patient visits. It shouldn't even make the news. It should be commonplace already. [READ MORE]( WHY DO I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT? Are you a doctor? Do you really want to spend half of your time doing administration? Right, then use AI. There is no other way. [AI IS BUILDING HIGHLY EFFECTIVE ANTIBODIES THAT HUMANS CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE]( --------------------------------------------------------------- AI will bring the real era of the art of medicine, I've been saying this for years. When an #AI system can find a new drug or a cure we, researchers and clinicians, couldn't find for centuries, the real quest is going to be finding out how the AI came to that conclusion. Here is one example about that also showing how an AI model can speed up research projects. It is building highly effective antibodies that we cannot even imagine: [READ MORE]( WHY DO I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT? Another demonstration of AI's role in drug discovery and antibody design.
