Make sure you integrate the 4 steps in this email. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Hey {NAME}, As you know, the [new Google update]( started to roll out last week. If you’ve been negatively impacted, I have some specific steps for you to follow in this email. So far it seems to have impacted websites that have published AI content. I warned about the dangers of using AI content in February 2023 with a case study that [showed how AI content could be easily detected]( by public tools. And now, Google has completely deindexed a large number of sites that were abusing AI content as predicted. Unfortunately a lot of sites have caught AI content fever over the past year. Nearly every popular SEO tool or service has integrated AI content offerings recently so it’s been easy to accidentally abuse. I imagine there are a lot of people that just didn’t know better. Overall though, this is a very welcome update as the search results had become filled with inaccurate spam and bad advice across nearly every category of search. So if you have been negatively impacted by this update, here is what you should do. First - remember that SEO is a game of analysis and risk management, not emotion and reaction. Google is still rolling out the update. What you see today might not be true a week from now, so it’s important not to panic and to wait for the dust to settle. Look at this site for example: [Image]( Initially it took a 10% hit, but then on Friday search traffic tripled. Google is still rolling out the update, so don't make any rash decisions until the dust has settled. However: As an immediate response for any sites that have been negatively impacted or given a manual action. These are the best practices you should integrate immediately:   Step 1 - AI Content Cleanup - Delete any content on your site that has been produced using AI - Ensure it returns a 410 content deleted status (not a 404) Step 2 - Establish EEAT Signals - Make sure you're giving Google the EEAT signals it wants - It’s amazing how many people ignore these required signals - Please integrate the advice in [this video](. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL. Step 3 - Integrate Modern Schema - It’s important to give Google what they want - and what they want is the data they need to grow their revenue. - You should be using modern schema including speakable, howto, faq, dataset, service, product, review, organisation/localbusiness, video and many many more. - Please follow the advanced schema review process from [my book]( or the [free course]( to make sure you’re giving Google what it wants, how it wants. Step 4 - Update Existing Content (the easy way) - Google loves aged content that has been updated (and written by humans!) - So for all of your remaining human written content, you should add an FAQ section to the end of it. - Why? Because Google loves updated content, it’s quick to do, it allows you to use FAQ schema AND it makes updating content in the future very easy to do. - How? Find relevant questions by searching for your target keyword in Google and looking at the people also ask box. - Choose 3-5 of them and answer them with 40-50 words of content. Don’t forget to add FAQ schema. - Then set a reminder to update 1 question every 6 months. Google loves aged content with a history of updates. - You can learn more about this process in [the book]( or the [free course](. If you integrate those best practices, you will begin to rebuild trust with the algorithm and be in the perfect position to submit a reconsideration request if you have been completely deindexed. If you have not been impacted… Then you should also integrate the 4 best practices above. It’s better to be safe than sorry! Again: Please do not forget that the update has not finished rolling out. Let the dust settle and integrate the steps above before making any other changes If you have any specific questions please feel free to reply to this email! - Matthew Woodward  Your subscription details are- Email: {EMAIL} Subscribed on: 2021-10-12 14:32:31 UTC If you do not want to receive any more emails can unsubscribe by [clicking here](. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
