Protecting the environment requires your vote Hey all, We send you our Outdoor newsletter on Monday

Protecting the environment requires your vote [View this email in your browser]( Hey all, We send you our Outdoor newsletter on Monday this week, because tomorrow is the most important election in our lifetimes. If you care about the outdoors, that’s no exaggeration. This week alone, the administration attacked the environment again, opening the country’s largest [national forest to logging]( and [ending protections for gray wolves](. As we’ve seen in other countries, trashing the environment is a [useful political tool]( for some leaders. There’s a lot to enjoy in the outdoor space – from [winter in national parks]( to a more [diverse face of fishing]( – but we can’t take it for granted. Saving the lands we love requires our attention as citizens. So make a plan to elect candidates who care about the planet. And go vote! Noelle Alejandra Salmi, Outdoor Editor ACTIVISM [For more and more world leaders, destroying the environment is key to their power]( If you wonder why some politicians seem so prepared to destroy the national patrimony they’ve been sworn to uphold, ask yourself whether those politicians are really trying to unify the country and exercise power democratically. If not, then their power relies on something else. Often that’s the financial and even tactical support of vested interests like, say, mining conglomerates. A few trees, or an Indigenous village, are a small sacrifice in return for political patronage from those interests. Snow generally closes the road from late October through the last week of May, making it impossible to drive all the way through the park. Open and close dates vary by season, but you’ll need to plan in advance to make sure the area you hope to reach is accessible.
