Plus, airport security goes after your snacks [View this email in your browser]( Hi all, Food is many things. It’s culture and community, a comfort and a delicacy. But at its core, food is nourishment. [Restaurants and chefs came together]( to help feed and support the thousands of protestors around the country marching for justice. Places like Black Earth Farms and Raised Roots helped out in Oakland, Pimento Jamaican Kitchen handed out essential items in Minneapolis, and chef José Andrés handed out food in Washington DC. Everyone has a part to play, and Matador Network will continue to bring you the stories of how food and those who make it are helping the country fight and heal. In the United States, just as elsewhere in the world, the pandemic continues to be an ever-present threat as people and businesses work out how to reopen. It just comes down to seeing it on social media -- seeing other black travelers making it happen -- and realizing you can do it too. I can say in all honesty that I’ve learned more by traveling than by going to college; there’s just no comparison. Travel reinforces the truth that beyond all our cultural differences, we’re still a big human community, more alike than we are different. All that needs to happen now is for travel media to catch up, to reflect that diversity we find when we travel. Instead of that token white guy traveling we always see; show us a Muslim lady chilling on a flight!
