I know a four-star officer who decided to retire to spend more time with his wife after a long battle with cancer. But with no confirmed replacement this officer remains on duty, and his wife lives alone in their retirement home. Senior officers, our most seasoned commanders, are retiring rather than putting their families through the mess that Tuberville has created.
