Take Nothing for Granted When Trading Options As market volatility continues, here is a quick remind

[image]() [image] This Week in the Market The market continues to hold its own despite plenty of negative talk about the economy, financial institutions and our foreign relationships. Those stocks can be resilient little buggers! The Nasdaq easily outperformed the two other main indexes as the Dow and S&P 500 closed below their 200-day moving averages once again. Because of the resiliency of stocks, a long-term non-bearish bias seems to make sense until major support levels have been violated. Implied volatility levels have risen, and IV skews are abundant for longtime spread option traders. Speaking of IV skews, there will be an extraordinary amount of them over the next few expirations because of the FOMC announcement coming Wednesday afternoon. Currently, the odds are the Federal Reserve will boost the rate 25 basis points, but no rate hike is still a possibility. As always, the language of the Fed will be dissected with expected volatility coming afterward. Remember, cash is always a position, and many times it’s the best one to be in.
