But it is now registering with retail investors, say analysts who track the trend. ESG assets are now at $9 trillion, a 33 percent increase since 2014, according to USSIF, a foundation that follows ESG investments. The number of big financial firms interested in ESG is growing, and includes BlackRock, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, among others. “All the big firms are participating,” said Jon Hale, an analyst who follows ESG for Morningstar, a fund rating service. ——————— Emirates partners with Mercedes, Jeremy Clarkson for new first class Dubai airline Emirates [EMIRA.UL] joined forces with Mercedes-Benz and motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson to launch its new first-class suites on Sunday, inspired by the styling of luxury car interiors. "This is the first time we have seen anything like this in the civil aviation world," Emirates President Tim Clark said. Emirates said it spent "many millions" of dollars developing the new premium section over several years. "The investment is an awful lot of money," Clark said, declining to disclose exactly how much the airline had spent. The airline has recruited Jeremy Clarkson, co-presenter of Amazon car show Grand Tour, for their advertising campaign to promote the new first class. ———————— Bitcoin Cash Skyrockets The surge by Bitcoin Cash led it to overtake Ethereum in market capitalization to $40 billion and become the second-largest crypto. (Earlier this year, as Bitcoin's market share of all crypto tokens was dropping precipitously and Ethereum was on a tear, many in the crypto community wondered about when they might see what they called "the flippening" -- when the market capitalization of Ethereum would overtake that of Bitcoin's. Instead, a different kind of flippening has occurred: Bitcoin Cash surpassing Ethereum. Even Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin congratulated the most vocal early supporters of Bitcoin Cash on Twitter.) Bitcoin Cash has a few other things going for it -- namely the fact that it is now 2.2 times as profitable for miners who can secure blockchains to mine Bitcoin Cash than to mine Bitcoin. That means the Bitcoin blockchain has lost so-called hash power, which will mean it will take longer for transactions to be processed. However, Bitcoin Cash's recent streak may not last. Even during the writing of this article, it began to reverse some gains and Bitcoin took back some losses. The ideological battle marches on. ——————— THE NEXT “IT” INGREDIENT IN BEAUTY PRODUCTS IS MARIJUANA As medical and recreational pot use becomes increasingly legalized in the United States, companies are beginning to experiment with the marijuana plant in the same way they would with other botanicals. Among beauty brands, CBD is becoming the next “it” ingredient incorporated into buzzy new products that hydrate skin, relieve swollen spots, and reduce under-eye bags. Experts say it works. Robert Dellavalle, an associate professor of dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (marijuana is legal both recreationally and medically in Colorado), points to pioneering studies out of Israel, which is currently leading the world in cannabis research. Tel Aviv-based One Cannabis World, for example, makes a part-THC and part-CBD cream that is effective for treating psoriasis. You can buy it online because the active ingredient is palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), which binds to cannabinoid receptors but “technically isn’t a cannabinoid,” Dellavalle explains. In the US, however, cannabis research in dermatology is still in its pre-clinical stage. Although the skin has at least two receptors for cannabinoids (and the body even makes its own cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids), cannabinoids just haven’t been clinically tested enough. “But they are safe,” Dellavalle says. “Your skin is a pretty great barrier, just in case.” To that end, mainstream beauty brands—those you find at Sephora and department-store beauty counters—have not incorporated CBD into their products just yet. ——————— NEW YORK CITY IS BECOMING FAST-FOOD CAPITAL OF AMERICA, AND CHICK-FIL-A CHAINS ARE RISING New York City is slowly starting to become the leading capital of the fast food nation, according to an article from Crain’s New York. The article found that the busiest lunchtime restaurant is the Chick-fil-A in Midtown, where the restaurant sells 3,000 sandwiches a day and a person orders a chicken sandwich every six seconds. The favorite lunchtime spot that racks up $13 million in revenue is currently expanding and plans to open 12 new restaurants in the city. One of their new chains is set to open in the Financial District and will be a five-story-high building with a rooftop that overlooks the Freedom Tower. But, New Yorkers love fast food so much Chick-fil-A is not the only fast food chain expanding. Taco Bell announced their plans to expand their chain and triple the number of restaurants—25 so far—and Five Guys has grown to 20 restaurants in the city since 2009. As of today, the Department of Health found that New York is home to 3,419 chain-restaurant locations. The New York City Center for an Urban Future found that Dunkin' Donuts was at the top of their list of New Yorker’s favorite chains with 596 stores. Other fast-food chains that ranked in the top ten included Starbucks, Baskin Robbins and McDonald's. ——————— Sincerely, Market Rising Disclaimer: DO NOT BASE ANY INVESTMENT DECISION UPON ANY MATERIALS FOUND ON THIS WEBSITE.
