Thank you! 😊🙏 Greetings from San Diego, dear {NAME}! Wowee, TBH, it's been a total whirlwind for the past ten days!! I flew down to San Diego a week before the big Social Media Marketing World conference to enjoy more quality time with my sister and her hubby on their travels. We had a [blast]( and the weather was amazing. ☀️ Then, it was time to pivot and head downtown to the San Diego Convention Center with 2,000 fellow marketers for the annual industry conference. (And the rainstorms came back, oh well! 🌧) My SMMW24 talk title was: Facebook Marketing in an AI World: Your Roadmap for the Future. The feedback was amazing and heartening. (Some folks even told me it had the makings of a TED Talk, woa!) Honestly, I can hardly wait to share this same information with you as soon as I'm able to! Would you be interested in a free private webinar with me on this topic? You can reply to this email to let me know - thanks! [Pic credit - thanks heaps to the lovely [Melanie Miller]()!] Do you have a Generative AI Policy at work? My longtime friend and colleague Paul Roetzer, founder of the Marketing AI Institute, gave the closing keynote at SMMW24 and it was loaded with helpful takeaways. One of which was the importance of having a Generative AI Policy. As an example, Paul shared [this one from Wired]() which you might appreciate to inspire your own. Boosted posts on Facebook & Instagram via mobile cost 30% more thanks to Apple Starting later this month, if you BOOST a post via the Facebook or Instagram app on iOS you will be charged an *additional* 30% service fee. Ugh, right? You will be billed through Apple and it's Apple that makes the additional 30% charge on the total ad payment (before any applicable charges). [😳] [📢] BUT, to avoid Apple's 30% service charge and still be able to boost posts from your mobile device, Meta is pointing out that you can simply go to facebook.com or instagram.com on your iOS device. (That is, iPhone or iPad. The 30% fee is not applied if you Boost on your MacBook laptop or iMac desktop). Your thoughts? Does this affect you? Do you think it's fair of Apple to levy 30% fees for all in-app purchases? Join the discussion on [Facebook]() or [Instagram](. Do you have Facebook's new 'Write with AI' tool yet? Are you seeing the 'Write with AI' prompt when you go to make a Facebook post on mobile now? [📱] It's rolling out to more users on both Android and iOS. If you don't see it yet, make sure your Facebook app is updated to the latest version. It's relatively simple so far. Start writing something to give the generative AI writing tool a prompt... then select from one of the simple prompts: [👉] Fix grammar, Longer, Shorter, Professional, Funny, Heartfelt, Inspirational. Or, type your own prompt in. [Learn more and see my example](=). As I've written about in the past few weeks, Mark Zuckerberg / Meta is on a mission to create a world-class AI assistant for basically EVERYONE in the world. Creators, businesses, developers and more. And, Meta is investing billions into building AGI: Artificial General Intelligence. This was a big topic of conversation at the Social Media Marketing World 2024 conference this week. Sure AGI is a long ways away. But if there's one thing Zuckerberg/Meta has boatloads of, it's money. Right? Trillions. And Meta plans to make their AGI open source. Hmmm. Responsibly, they say. Hmm. My friend, NOW is the time to dig deep -- stay FOCUSED, create even more VALUE and MEANING for your audience, foster GENUINE relationships, and build TRUST most of all. Have you joined my Superstars community yet? It's been two years since I created a supplemental community myself - [Mari Smith's Superstars](=) - proudly built on the [Mighty Networks platform](). I just love their UI & UX. (My primary reason for starting a separate community is to share about my passion project: the amazing and life-changing Human Design System!) Yes, it takes a bit of retraining to ensure people know where to go and how to configure settings to their liking. But it can be a wonderful oasis away from the cacophony of social sites. Lol! And now I've started leading my [courses]() through MN as well. Of course, to be clear, I'm a big fan of creating an additional / supplemental community on what I call a 'non-Zuck' platform. Lol. There's room for both/and. I've no intentions of stopping using Facebook Groups! (I'll be the last one to leave. I'll be the one shutting off the lights. Ha! 💡) [Mari Smith Superstars](=) More news you can use - [Instagram’s Testing New Options to Create Alternate Image Backgrounds and Facilitate In-Stream Orders]() - the latter could be useful for e-commerce businesses - [Facebook tests a shortcut to see posts with the @highlight tag](=) - well, personally I'm so not a fan of almost any of the @tags... so far, I've yet to see a relevant use of the @highlight (you get a notification that a friend tagged you in a comment or post they want to draw your attention to) - [Zuckerberg: Neural Wristband For AR/VR Input Will Ship "In The Next Few Years"]() - worth a quick skim... futuristic but informative to see what's coming... (tbh, could be both exciting and creepy?!) - [Adobe Acrobat adds generative AI to ‘easily chat with documents’]( - okay this has nothing to do with Facebook, Instagram or any social media, really. But personally, I consume a lot of PDFs (particularly for all my Human Design classes that I take), and I got excited when I saw the news of this release!! Yay, much potential. That's all for today! You're welcome to reach out to me anytime. You can reply to this email. Plus, come connect with your fellow marketers in my wonderfully supportive [Social Scoop Facebook Community](.
