Mari has the scoop for you... Greetings {NAME}, I recently got invited to a 'VIP intimate roundtable discussion' with Facebook's creator product marketing lead, Chien-Ying "CY" Yu, and team. The event took place online via Zoom this morning with just ten attendees total, including three Facebook staff and one or two from their PR agency. The rest were creator types, none of whom I was familiar with. The focus of the roundtable was squarely on Facebook Professional Mode + Reels + monetization. I asked over a dozen questions, took notes, and captured screenshots for you. I followed up with a [Live broadcast](=) on my Facebook business Page to share the resources with my community, with Facebook's full permission. If you do choose to enable Pro Mode, you'll learn the ways that Facebook wants you to grow your audience (spoiler alert: create a bazillion Reels, lol!), engage and manage your community, and earn money. Tune in to learn more! - [Watch on Facebook](
- [Watch on YouTube]( Overall, the roundtable was an interesting experience. It certainly seems Meta is striving to seek input/feedback on this particular product combo, anyway. [Creator Conversations]() Facebook Professional Mode + Monetization I know I've covered Pro Mode a LOT over the last few months. It's certainly a trending topic! (If you haven't already, definitely check out [my thoughts on the pros and cons](=) and whether to enable Pro Mode). Facebook first debuted Professional Mode for personal profiles in December 2021. Now, tens of millions of people have enabled this mode according to the creator team this morning. Pro Mode is built specifically for creator types. But anyone can enable the mode. (Go to the 3 dots on your personal profile on either desktop or mobile and you'll find the option in the menu there). It's really a personal choice if you want to switch Pro Mode on or not. There are some definite benefits such as: - Potentially greater reach and discoverability of both your profile and your content, especially when you focus mostly on Reels but also on posting 'high quality content frequently'
- See insights on your posts and your audience
- Access monetization tools where eligible - the big carrot being dangled now is Ads on Facebook Reels. If you've enabled Pro Mode, go to your Professional Dashboard and see if you're eligible. (There are also Stars and Virtual Gifts). NOTE: you do need to be 'onboarded' for any of the monetization features; they don't happen automatically.
- Also, the Boost button is available to many Pro Mode users. I did ask the creator team in the meeting today if Pro Mode would ever be integrated into Meta Business Suite just like Pages for full access to all the tools there... the answer was not a definitive yes or no. For now, it seems Facebook wants to keep things simple which is the whole point of Pro Mode. BUT, my prediction is we'll see Pro Mode profiles sooner or later having full access inside Meta Business Suite. You heard it here first. Lol! Is Your Facebook & Instagram Content Recommendable? [Recommendable](=) As it happens, I'd published about this very recommendable topic on my Facebook Page this morning... and it was one of the key points made in the Facebook VIP roundtable a few hours later. Facebook wants us to ensure our accounts are properly 'Recommendable' and have no violations. [See my post here](=) with instructions on where to find this status on both your Facebook and Instagram accounts. The creator team confirmed on the Zoom this morning that this status is currently only on public business Pages and Instagram accounts. BUT, it's coming to Professional Mode Facebook profiles in May. So, that's good to know. Also, one of the many questions I asked CY and her team was, "Are personal profiles in Classic Mode included in Recommendations?" The answer was no. However, I'm not sure I fully buy that, TBH. I'm sure I see content in my own feed from all types of accounts, whether Pro Mode, or Classic, or Pages. Hm. In any case, it's important to note that as much as 20% of all content you see in your Facebook and Instagram feeds are from people/accounts that you do not follow. Hence the whole 'discovery / recommendation engine' ... a la TikTok's algos! ;) Facebook got rid of its own Code Generator If you've ever used Facebook's own Code Generator, you've likely experienced frustration, as it can be buggy and unpredictable! Well, Facebook has now deprecated this feature. BUT, do not be confused with using a two-factor authentication app, which I HIGHLY recommend! Set up either Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile which are robust tools that generate codes for you. You can also set up 2FA using text/SMS. But using an authentication app is so much more secure. [See my Reel here with more info](. [FB Code Generator]( Okay, my friend, that's all for now! You're welcome to reach out anytime. I've been watching the weather app and it'll be just a wee bit chillier than San Diego, CA. Okay about 20â cooler, ha!
